Timebanking principles
Timebanking works on the following five core values:
PEOPLE ARE ASSETS
Everyone has the ability to contribute to the well being of others in their community.
REDEFINING WORK
Activities such as bringing up children, keeping communities safe, caring for the vulnerable and making democracy work need to be better recognised, valued and rewarded.
GIVING AND RECEIVING
The impulse to give back is universal. Wherever possible, “you need me” must become “we need each other”.
COMMUNITY
Networks are stronger than individuals. Social networks, which people feel that they own, build mutual trust and collective effectiveness.
RESPECT
Every individual, regardless of their situation deserves respect. The voice of those to be helped must be respected, responded to and acted on.
